Post-Impact Media Briefing on NASA’s DART Mission
September 26, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
The DART spacecraft is designed to impact an asteroid – which poses no threat to Earth – as a test of technology, and the asteroid system DART will encounter is the perfect testing ground to see if intentionally crashing a spacecraft into an asteroid is an effective way to change its course, should a hazardous asteroid be discovered in the future. During the briefing, you will have the opportunity to hear from the below experts on the DART mission team as well ask questions for the purposes of media reporting:
– Ed Reynolds, DART Program Manager, Johns Hopkins APL
– Mark Jensenius, DART Smart Nav Guidance Engineer, Johns Hopkins APL
– Dr. Carolyn Ernst, DART DRACO Instrument Scientist, Johns Hopkins APL
– Dr. Julie Bellerose, DART Navigation Lead, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory
The briefing will be streamed on Monday, Sept. 26 at 8:00 p.m. ET. at live – audio available at: https://www.nasa.gov/nasalive
