The Destiny Laboratory module is the U.S.-built module used for Earth science studies. It is also equipped with storage points for dozens of experiment modules that can be brought up from Earth or returned when the experiments are completed.
Destiny’s window — which takes up the space of one rack — is an optical gem that makes possible the ability to shoot very high quality photos and video. Station crew members use video and still cameras at the window to record Earth’s ever-changing landscapes below. The Destiny laboratory was built at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.
