NASA’s Dr. Yvonne Pendleton spoke about the Solar System Exploration Research Virtual Institute at Google as part of their Talks at Google series.
Recognizing that “science enables exploration” and “exploration enables science”, NASA created the Solar System Exploration Research Virtual Institute (SSERVI) in 2013 to address basic and applied scientific questions fundamental to understanding the Moon, Near Earth Asteroids, and the moons of Mars.

Using virtual tools to communicate has eliminated the need for a traditional “brick and mortar” institute, allowing hundreds of researchers across the world to easily communicate and collaborate, from wherever they are. In this talk, Dr. Pendleton will describe how SSERVI is helping expand our knowledge of the Earth’s nearest neighbor and other stepping-stones on the way to Mars.
