Space Center Houston President and CEO Richard Allen, Jr. and retired astronaut Clay Anderson unveil the name ”Independence” on the forward fuselage of a high-fidelity space shuttle replica during an event on July 25.
The replica is destined to be lifted atop a retired Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft that was used by NASA to ferry the shuttles from California to their Florida launch site. The ceremonies dubbed “The Rise of Independence” will take place on August 14.
