Now available is the April 29, 2015 NASA Future In-Space Operations (FISO) telecon material. The speaker was Andy Cheng (JHU) who discussed “AIDA Planetary Defense Demonstration”.
Andy is the Lead Investigator for the Asteroid Impact & Deflection Assessment (AIDA) NASA study. He is also the Principal Investigator for the Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) experiment on the New Horizons mission to Pluto. He was the Project Scientist for the Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous mission, the first to orbit and land on an asteroid. He is currently Chief Scientist in the Space Department at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. He served as Deputy Chief Scientist for Space Science in the Science Mission Directorate, NASA HQ in 2007-­‐2008. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
