NASA hosted a press briefing on April 16 to discuss the launch of Orbital Sciences Corporation’s Antares rocket on a demonstration flight from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport’s Pad-0A at Wallops Flight Facility.
The Antares test flight is the first of two scheduled missions this year for Orbital under NASA’s Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) Program. This mission will demonstrate the Antares launch system and deliver a simulated Cygnus cargo craft to orbit. The real Cygnus is designed to deliver cargo to the International Space Station. Launch opportunities are available April 17-21.
