SPOT Announces Participation At Outdoor Retailer Summer Market Conference in Salt Lake City, July 21-24
MILPITAS, Calif., July 13, 2009 SPOT LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Globalstar Inc. (Nasdaq: GSAT) and a leader in personal satellite messaging and emergency communications, today announced its participation at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2009 Conference for the third consecutive year. The company is showcasing its award-winning SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger(tm), along with new product developments and SPOT Assist services in Booth #36191 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The handheld SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger(tm) sends the user’s GPS location coordinates and select messages with a link to Google Maps(tm) over a global satellite network to personal contacts, or, in case of an emergency, a rescue coordination center. Because SPOT uses satellite technology, users can reliably send their location information and messages regardless of cellular availability.
Survival expert and SPOT product spokesman Les Stroud will make a special show-appearance on Tuesday, July 21 at 2:30 p.m. in the SPOT booth. Adventurer, filmmaker and musician, Stroud is best known for his highly acclaimed international television survival show on the Discovery Channel. Stroud has been an integral part of the SPOT safety campaign helping educate outdoor enthusiasts and consumers on the safety benefits of the SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger(tm).
SPOT executives will lead a press conference and product showcase at the SPOT booth # 36191 on July 21st at 3:30 p.m. immediately following Stroud’s personal appearance. Discover the latest advancements in SPOT product technology and SPOT Assist subscription services, as well as a demonstration of the new SPOTadventures.com social network.
“We introduced the SPOT Messenger at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in 2007, and in keeping with tradition and our commitment to the outdoor market, we have developed a powerful schedule of events for registered show attendees,” said Darren Bassel, director of global marketing, SPOT LLC. “As a result of listening to the feedback from our valued customers SPOT will be announcing some significant new developments so we hope everyone will make it a point to include SPOT in their plans at this year’s conference.”
NASA Astronaut and mountaineer Scott Parazynski will also share his recent experience on Mount Everest, becoming the first person to have explored space and stand atop of the world’s highest mountain. He used SPOT technology to send signals updating his locations on Everest, staying connected to his team at Base Camp and his family back at home. Learn how Parazynski used SPOTadventures.com to document his experiences and share them with the world.
Since market introduction, the award-winning SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger(tm) has initiated more than 250 rescues and sent over 10 million peace-of-mind and track-me messages around the world.
