Day 55/May 15, 2009 (Friday) Blue Skies on Top

By Scott Parazynski

As I depart at 0 ‘dark 30 for Camp II and destinations above & beyond, hopefully with a brief stop on the summit on May 20th or thereabouts, this will be my last written missive for some days. I wanted to thank the many (thousands and thousands) who appear to be following our expedition so closely. My little blog began last year as a simple effort to keep my family and friends apprised of how things were going up here.

Owing to the tremendous efforts of Keith, Miles and Marc, it has grown into what I think has become some powerful educational outreach for students and others interested in life and associated struggles in the extreme. Please stay tuned during the intense days ahead, as Keith and Miles will be in direct contact with me and all that’s transpiring up The Hill, and will share it in near-real time. You can also follow along my real-time progress with SPOT: a dedicated SPOTScott map will track my precise position from now through the summit and a safe return…. The weather forecasts continue to suggest favorable conditions in the days ahead. Training is officially over. Now it’s time to git ‘er done! Scott
