NASA Announcement of Employment Opportunity – Applied Physiologist, Neuroscience Laboratory
Description
The Neuroscience Laboratory within the Biomedical Research and Environmental Sciences (BRES) Division at the Johnson Space Center performs clinical assessments, conducts applied research to characterize the risk associated with sensorimotor changes during space flight and develops countermeasure strategies to mitigate these effects. These include investigations on adaptive changes in posture, locomotion, gaze control, manual control, spatial orientation, motion sickness, and central nervous system function. Countermeasures are focused on mitigating motion sickness and enhancing performance of critical mission tasks such as piloting, capsule egress, and extravehicular activities. The Applied Physiologist in the Neuroscience Laboratory is intended to provide sensorimotor subject matter expertise for NASA’s human space flight programs, interface with both intramural program customers and extramural investigators, and help develop the operational and scientific strategy for addressing key capability gaps to accomplish exploration mission objectives.
