Expedition Six’s only scheduled spacewalk began this morning at 6:50 CST (1250 GMT). Commander Ken Bowersox and NASA ISS Science Officer Don Pettit are continuing work to outfit the International Space Station’s newest component, the P1 (P-One) Truss, and preparing it for upcoming assembly missions. Their scheduled tasks include releasing launch restraints to permit deployment of a cooling radiator on the P1.

The spacewalkers are receiving help from inside the station from Flight Engineer Nikolai Budarin. The excursion is slated to conclude about 1:20 p.m. CST (1920 GMT) today. This is the 50th spacewalk in support of station assembly and maintenance and the 25th based out of the station.
