Update at 6:00 pm eastern.

Today’s launch of the space shuttle Discovery has been scrubbed due to a low level fuel cut off sensor problem. No new launch date has been set yet but but at an afternoon press conference NASA indicated the earliest day for launch would be Saturday.

This mission is scheduled for 12 days which will see the Discovery’s astronauts test various safety techniques for patching cracks and holes in the shuttle’s thermal shielding and delivering supplies to the International Space Station.
