Retired Major General Charles F. Bolden to be Announced as NASA's Next Administrator

Former astronaut and retired Marine Major General Charles F. Bolden is to expected to meet with President Obama Monday and appears set to become NASA’s Next administrator according to both NASA Watch and MSNBC.

Bolden joined NASA in 1981 and flew four missions, STS-61C in 1986, STS-31 in 1990, STS-45 in 1992, and STS-60 in 1994. He left NASA in 1994 where he became Deputy Commandant of Midshipmen at the US Naval Academy.

In 2002 Bolden was tapped to become NASA Deputy Administrator but his appointment appears to have been torpedoed by political pressure and he withdrew his name. Since 2004 Bolden has held a wide variety of positions at several corporations including joining the board of directors at GenCorp in 2004.
