*NSync band member Lance Bass is on his way to Russia. While in Russia, Bass will undergo the physical exam at the IBMP in Moscow. This exam is required as part of the process of qualifying to fly aboard a Soyuz mission to the ISS.

NASA recently released guidelines for all visitors to the ISS. Bass will be required to meet all of these requirements in order to fly to the ISS.

Negotiations will also be held that Bass’s team hopes will lead to him getting a seat on a Soyuz flight this Fall. Accompanying Bass on this trip are his father, his business manager, David Gump from LunaCorp, Jeff Manber from MirCorp, and David Krieff from Destiny productions.

Financial support for this trip is being provided by Radio Shack.

Prior to this trip, Bass and a small entourage got a personally tailored tour of NASA JSC last week. All reports note that the JSC visit went very smoothly.

Should Bass obtain a Soyuz seat, this would make him the third space tourist to visit the ISS. South African Mark Shuttleworth is due to fly to the ISS on a Soyuz taxi mission in a few weeks. American millionaire Dennis Tito flew to the ISS last year. The rumored cost of such a flight is $20 million. At age 23, Bass would also be the youngest person to ever fly in space.
