NASA’s Gravity Probe B Launched

NASA’s Gravity Probe B spacecraft was launched aboard a Boeing Delta II rocket at 12:57 p.m. EDT today.

According to a previous NASA press release: “The launch had been scrubbed for 24 hours after a hold was called approximately three minutes before lift off on Monday. This hold was called after it was determined there was insufficient time to confirm before launch the correct wind profile had been loaded aboard the Delta II based on the data from the final weather balloon.

The team was waiting on this final weather balloon data due to marginal upper level wind conditions that were observed throughout the countdown.
