Between May 24-26 the Canadian Space Agency will host the 3rd Canadian Space Exploration workshop. The purpose of the workshop is to a develop a vision for Canadian involvement in national and international space exploration missions and to identify the key technologies required in order to successfully achieve these scientific goals.

SpaceRef Canada is proud to be one of the sponsors of this event. If you attend, please look for us – we’ll be hosting the afternoon coffee break on May 25th.

While Canada has been at the forefront of space science since 1962 with the launch of the Aloutette satellite, it is only recently that the CSA has budgeted any funds towards space exploration.

The participants of this workshop will have a hand in shaping the future of the CSA’s space exploration program. Upcoming CSA space exploration activities include the development of scientific instruments for the Next Generation Space Telescope (NGST) and the Microvariability and Oscillations of Stars (MOST) micro-satellite.

A highly interactive program will see participants break out into five sessions. They are;

  • Solid Planetology (Planetary Geology)
  • Planetary Atmospheres, Ionospheres, Magnetospheres
  • Exo/Astrobiology
  • Small Bodies Research
  • Life Support Systems and Terrestrial Analogs of Space Environments

    Marc Garneau Executive Vice-president of the CSA will be the featured speaker at the workshop banquet.
