ESA’s Venus Express Probe will arrive at the Shepherd’s star on Tuesday 11 April at around 07:00 GMT. Putting the spacecraft into an orbit around venus needs a one-hour burn of the main engine to decelerate it enough so that Venus’ gravity can capture it: an operation that is not without risk, and during which radiocommand of Venus Express is not possible.

Today’s Exchange provides the pre-event images for this event.
