A Year of Weather That Was

Time lapse recordings of Meteosat images

Background information on the transmission:

For over twenty years, Meteosat weather satellites have delivered data to weather forecasters and images used for producing the animations in the daily TV weather forecasts. These graphics sequences mostly cover two to three days.

Today’s transmission features one full year of global Meteosat images, animated into single series of 3-D graphics sequences. Such images illustrate the ever-changuing weather and the major climate zones–the intertropical convergence zone, the trade winds, the moderate climate zone–with zoom spot sequences showing particular weather phenomena: a hurricane, a spring storm, summer weather. The corresponding background footage is also included.

The programme, produced in 1995, is complemented with some general Meteosat background footage.
