Italians ESA astronaut en route to the ISS
Background information on the transmission:
The Italian ESA astronaut Umberto Guidoni is assigned to the STS-100 mission, which will carry the second of two Multi-Purpose Logistics Modules that the Italian Space Agency ASI provides for the International Space Station. The mission is scheduled for the spring of 2001 and will also carry the
Space Station Remote Manipulator System (SSRMS), the Canadian Robotics Arm that will be extensively used to assemble the ISS.
UMberto Guidoni will be the first European to visit the Station. Today’s tranmsmission includes recent
soundbites by Umberto Guidoni in Italian and English, plus some background footage on the development of the Multi-Purpose Logistics Module.
