In July, German ESA astronaut Thomas Reiter will lift aboard Shuttle mission STS-121 to the International Space Station, to begin a six-month stay on the ISS.

Shuttle mission STS-121 will return to Earth after 12 days, leaving Reiter on the ISS where he will together with an American and a Russian astronaut, take part in all operations, including a space walk. In addition, he will perform a programme of European experiments.

Today’s Exchange is a portrait of Reiter preparing for his mission, with recent soundbites on how he sees his role and the challenges of his mission, and background footage on his training.
