Terra Weekly Mission Status Update December 13 – 19, 2002

The MOPITT instrument resumed science operations on December 19. The
instrument was turned off on December 13 by an onboard telemetry monitor
point that indicated an over-stroke error. The Principle Investigator and
his engineering team conducted a number of engineering tests during the
week to ensure that there had been no further mechanical degradation of
the failed cooler which was the source of the telemetry failure. This
team will continue to closely monitor MOPITT’s operation.

The Terra mission supported the TDRS I on-orbit checkout on December 19.

The Terra Flight Operations Team plans to complete the MODIS yaw calibration
maneuvers on January 15-16, 2003.
