SHUTTLE STATUS REPORT

Shuttle Processing Note: Orbiter Atlantis is mated to the external tank and solid rocket boosters in VAB high bay 1. The Shuttle Interface Test is ongoing from firing room 1 in the Launch Control Center. The SPACEHAB payload was delivered to Launch Pad 39B today at 3:20 a.m.
The VAB and crawlerway have recently undergone major modifications to allow more storage space and protection ñ “Safe Haven” – for Shuttle flight hardware during hurricane season.
Early Saturday, the entire Shuttle stack will move to high bay 2 as part of a final “Safe Haven” fit check. Shuttle Atlantis is scheduled to roll out to Launch Pad 39B from VAB high bay 2 at about 11 p.m. on Aug. 13.

Shuttle Processing Note: Close-out efforts continue in Discovery’s forward compartment. Workers are preparing for the orbiter’s final power down before transfer to the VAB. Discovery is currently scheduled to move the VAB on Aug. 21.

Shuttle Processing Note: Endeavour’s ammonia boiler system is undergoing routine inspections and leak checks today. The payload premate test efforts are complete. Next week, technicians will replace the brake assembly on the orbiter docking system.
