The Expedition 9 spacewalkers successfully replaced a Remote Power Controller Module (RPCM) in the International Space Station’s S0 Truss and are making their way back to the Pirs Docking Compartment.

A circuit breaker in the RPCM failed in late April and caused a loss of power in Control Moment Gyro (CMG) 2. There are four CMGs that control the ISS’ orientation, located in the Z1 Truss.

This is Expedition 9’s second spacewalk at the Station. The first occurred on June 24. The objective of today’s spacewalk was carried over from the first spacewalk after it was cut short due to an equipment problem in a spacesuit. This is the 54th spacewalk conducted at the Station and the 29th based out of the Pirs Docking Compartment.
