Shuttle Processing Note: Over the weekend, technicians began preparations to remove Shuttle Atlantis’ three main engines. Heat shield removal is ongoing and engine removal begins later this week. The payload bay doors were opened Friday and workers disconnected the payload from the orbiter over the weekend. Payload removal efforts are planned for today.
Post-flight evaluations of the orbiter’s auxiliary power converter unit (APCU) No. 1 confirmed that the unit is in good health and need not be replaced. Checks of the forward reaction control system begin in about two days.

Shuttle Processing Note: Discovery’s main engine heat shield installation is complete. Hydraulic checks on the left inboard elevon actuator are ongoing. In the Vehicle Assembly Building, booster stacking operations will resume today with the right-hand solid rocket booster segments.

Shuttle Processing Note: Workers have completed efforts to install the orbiter’s robot arm in the payload bay. Functional tests on the crew module hatch are complete also. Technicians will remove Endeavour’s right-hand orbiter maneuvering system engine today, and airlock installation is slated to occur tomorrow.
