a.m. EST

Shuttle Processing Note: At about 10:21 a.m. today, Space Shuttle Atlantis
departed the Vehicle Assembly Building atop a replaced crawler transporter
headed for Launch Pad 39A.
Atlantis arrived at the pad at about 3:45 p.m. today.
Routine launch pad validations begin tonight and proceed through Friday.
The Rotating Service Structure will extend around the vehicle Thursday
morning. The U.S. Laboratory “Destiny” arrived at the pad last night and is
schedule for installation into Atlantis’ payload bay over the weekend.
The STS-98 flight crew is expected to arrive at KSC today at about 5:45 p.m.
This week, the five-member crew will participate in standard Terminal
Countdown Demonstration Test activities. Their visit will culminate with a
launch day dress rehearsal and simulated Shuttle egress on Saturday.

Shuttle Processing Note: Main engine heat shield installation is complete.
Today workers are installing the transceiver for Discovery’s space-to-space
orbiter radio. The payload premate test is in work and main propulsion
system leak checks are ongoing. Later this week technicians will conduct
tests of the auxiliary power units and fuel cell system.

Shuttle Processing Note: Endeavour’s power system validation has been
completed. Today, workers are removing the three main engines. This week,
technicians will check the orbiter maneuvering system pods and begin fuel
cell replacement efforts.
