Shuttle Processing Note: Space Shuttle Atlantis completed
a flawless mission to the International Space Station with an on time
landing at KSC’s Shuttle Landing Facility (SLF) at 2:20 a.m. on orbit 155.
At the conclusion of mission STS-101, Atlantis and crew had traveled
4,076,241 miles.
The main landing gear touched down on SLF runway 15 at 2:20:17 a.m. and
the nose landing gear followed at 2:20:30 a.m. With the aid of its drag
chute, Atlantis came to a complete stop at 2:21:19 a.m. Following routine
safing and offloading efforts, managers expect Atlantis to arrive at
Orbiter Processing Facility bay 3 by about 6 a.m. today. While in the
Shuttle hangar, technicians will begin an expedited turnaround of Atlantis
for mission STS-106.
The flight crew will remain overnight at KSC and depart for their homes
in Houston, Texas, Tuesday morning. STS-101 marked the 14th nighttime
landing in Shuttle history and the 22nd consecutive landing at KSC.
