VEHICLE: Discovery/OV-103
LOCATION:  Launch Pad 39A
TARGET KSC LAUNCH DATE/TIME: Oct. 5, 2000 at about 9:39 p.m. EDT TARGET KSC LANDING DATE/TIME: Oct. 16, 2000 at about 5 p.m.
MISSION DURATION: 11 days
CREW: Duffy, Melroy, Wakata, Chiao, Wisoff, Lopez-Alegria, McArthur ORBITAL ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 177 nautical miles/51.6 degrees
 
Shuttle Processing Note: At Launch Pad 39A, workers have successfully completed efforts to replace a transducer on Discovery’s right hand orbital maneuvering system (OMS) engine.  Leak checks on the fuel line quick disconnect for auxiliary power unit No. 2 were successful, so replacement of the quick disconnect will not be required. The orbiter’s cavity purge test is scheduled for today. Preparations are also in work for Discovery’s Helium Signature Test. Loading of the orbiter’s onboard propellant storage tanks remains scheduled for the weekend.

Shuttle Processing Note: Technicians have completed installation of Endeavour’s three main engines and main propulsion system leak checks are in work today.  Engine heat shield installation is scheduled to occur this week. Payload bay door testing is complete and closeouts are in work.

NOTE: Shuttle Processing Note: The STS-106 flight crew departed KSC today at 11:25 a.m. en route to Houston, TX, following the successful conclusion of the 4th U.S. International Space Station flight.  Orbiter Atlantis arrived at OPF bay 3 yesterday at 8:56 a.m. after being towed from the Shuttle Landing Facility.  Technicians are draining the onboard cryogenics today. The STS-106 space suits will be removed from the orbiter today and returned to the Johnson Space Center. Components from the suits will be turned around for use on STS-92.  Atlantis’ payload bay doors will be opened Saturday and post-flight hydraulic work begins Sunday.
