Space Shuttle Processing Status 17 May 2001
MISSION: STS-104 – 10th ISS Flight (7A) – Airlock
VEHICLE: Atlantis/OV-104
LOCATION: Orbiter Processing Facility (OPF) bay 3
TARGET KSC LAUNCH DATE/TIME: NET June 14, 2001 at 4:11 p.m. EDT
TARGET KSC LANDING DATE/TIME: June 25, 2001 at 11:51 a.m.
MISSION DURATION: 10 days, 19 hours and 40 minutes
CREW: Lindsey, Hobaugh, Kavandi, Gernhardt, Reilly
ORBITAL INSERTION ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 122 nautical miles/51.6 degrees
Shuttle Processing Note: Orbiter close-outs continue in preparation for
Atlantis’ transfer to the Vehicle Assembly Building. However, additional
work on the orbiter’s external tank door has slipped that transfer to
Tuesday, May 22. An environmental seal and metal mounting strip on the
left-hand door were replaced yesterday and door cycling tests are being
conducted Saturday. Managers do not anticipate an impact to the June 14
target launch date at this time.
Technicians have completed integrated hydraulic and flight control checks.
Landing gear functional tests are also complete. This week workers will
perform routine structural leak checks in the orbiter’s aft and midbody
compartments.
Upcoming Milestones (dates are targets only):
Orbiter transfer to VAB – May 22
Space Shuttle rolls out to Launch Pad 39B – May
27
Flight Readiness Review – May 31
Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test complete – June 1
