Note: On orbit activities continue today with the first EVA (spacewalk)
currently underway. Landing remains scheduled for KSC on Wednesday, Aug. 22
at 12:48 p.m. Weather forecasters are currently monitoring a tropical system
and its potential impact, if any, on next week’s landing opportunities at
KSC. Post flight solid rocket booster inspections continue on schedule at
Hangar AF. Inspectors report that both boosters are in good condition
having sustained no abnormal damage. Nozzle removal begins today followed by
forward skirt removal Friday. Booster disassembly will continue through
next week.

Processing Note: Testing of the orbiter’s robot arm is complete. The docking
mechanism is scheduled for a functional test next week. Also, the Mobile
Launcher Platform is scheduled to be moved to the Vehicle Assembly Building
next Monday and booster-stacking operations will commence on Aug. 27.
MISSION: STS-109 – HST Servicing Mission 3B

Processing Note: Orbiter maneuvering system pod checks are complete. The
payload bay doors will be closed on Saturday and the orbiter readied for
transfer to the VAB temporarily next Tuesday. This will open up OPF bay 2
for Discovery’s post-mission deservicing following its landing next week.
Atlantis will likely remain in the VAB for about three weeks.
