Solidification Design Center and General Motors:
A paper presented at the 2002 American Foundry Society (AFS) Casting
Congress entitled "Process Modeling: Sand Core Blowing" by
K. Williams and D. Snider of Arena LLC (Albuquerque, NM) and M. Walker
and S. Palczewski of General Motors (Defiance, OH) will receive the
AFS Howard Taylor Award for "the greatest long range technical
significance in the field of cast metals technology." The award
ceremony will take place at the next AFS Casting Congress in Milwaukee
in April 2003. Dr Joe Santner, AFS Director of Research says this is
the highest technical award of AFS and it indicates the importance
of the new computational technology to the foundry industry. The software
development was co-funded by the Auburn Solidification Design Center
and General Motors.
