BioServe Welcomes a New Industrial Partner: BioServe Space Technologies welcomes Weyerhaeuser as an official industry member to the Lignin Consortium between BioServe and USDA Forest Products Laboratory. Weyerhaeuser, one of the world’s largest forest products companies, has agreed to collaborate with BioServe on a commercial research project that examines lignin biosynthesis and cell wall biogenesis in trees of commercial value when grown in a microgravity environment.

Weyerhaeuser has ranked No. 1 in the forest products industry in social responsibility in Fortune magazine’s annual corporate reputation survey for the past seven years. The first launch of this commercial research is scheduled for ISS9A in September of 2002
