SOHO Weekly Meeting Minutes Week 26, 24 – 30 June 2002

1. Announcements

* SPWG Friday 28 June at 2pm in the EAF

* Security scans for EOF and EAF rescheduled for 3 July at 10am

* Visitors will come to the EOF on Tuesday 25 June in the afternoon,
on Thursday June 27, and Friday 28 June

* Router fail-over testing rescheduled for July 8

* PMI contractors are scheduled to perform corrective maintenance
on the UPS-20 system on July 10 from 9AM until 4:30PM. The UPS
system will be in bypass and the load will be on commercial
power during this activity. No impact to operations is expected.
3-UPS-20 supports SOHO, W/P, and XTE missions.

* Prof. Tyan Yeh from Boulder will give a set of 5 lectures on
The Dynamics of Flux Ropes in the Corona-Interplanetary Space
at Bldg 26, Rm G-10, at 11:00am on the following days:

Lecture 2 (June 27, Thursday): Lagrangian description of a flux rope

Lecture 3 (July 2, Tuesday): Magnetic structure of a flux rope with
circular cross-sections

Lecture 4 (July 11, Thursday): Hydromagnetic buoyancy force on a
flux rope

Lecture 5 (July 18, Thursday): Equations for parameters that
characterize a flux rope

Monday – Gap until 14 UT then D27 all day.
Tuesday – Gap from 17-19 UT but good stations for the day.
Wedesday – D27 until 19 UT then D16.
Thursnbsp- D27 all day.
Friday – Gap until 15 UT then D16 all day.
Saturday – Commanding is good all day.
Sunday – D16 until 16:30 UT then D27.

CDS: Full Sun (USUN) on Monday, various active region studies
throughout the week, usual weekend studies.

UVCS: Cassini conjunction observations and synoptic, possible RHESSI
observations during weekend if suitable target exists, otherwise
coronal hole and synoptic observations.

LASCO: C2/C3 synoptics, JOP159 Wednesday – Friday.

EIT: 195 CME watch and synoptics.

MDI: Switching to full disk magnetorgams and dopplergrams on
Monday. Tuning reload and possibly a change to normal focus
(from full disk best focus) on Friday. Campaign testing and
calibrations possible on Friday also.

TRACE: Active region studies.
