This is your once in a decade opportunity to provide direct input on the direction of the research that NASA will be conducting as it reaches out to explore the Moon, Mars and beyond.  As many of you know, NASEM will be developing the next Decadal Survey on Life and Physical Sciences Research in space 2023-2032, which will serve as a critical framework to shape the upcoming vision and strategy plan for NASA’s research efforts in the area of biological and physical sciences in space.

Many of you participated in the Town Hall series that we held last fall, which generated numerous important questions for the next decade of Biological and Physical Science research. Now, we need to turn those ideas into Concept Papers through a series of MicroLabs, or intensive writing workshops that will be submitted to the Decadal Survey. A full list of generated ideas can be seen here https://asgsr.org/decadal-survey/

There will be four topical MicroLabs held in May 2021 that will start the writing process for the different concept papers.

Please visit https://kistorm.com/go/asgsr to access the MicroLab writing portal and the plenary Zoom meeting that will occur on the following days:

Animal Research / Materials Research:
May 5, 2021 15:00 – 17:30 Eastern

Microbiology Research / Combustion Research:
May 7, 2021 15:00 – 17:30 Eastern

Plant Research / Complex Fluids Research
May 13, 2021 15:00 – 17:30 Eastern

Fluid Physics Research / Education, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion
May 17, 2021 15:00 – 17:30 Eastern

Note: you will be required to log in and set up a password. In each topic writing portal will include a unique Zoom room and Google Doc for each concept paper.

Note: An additional Microlab targeting the larger research campaign issues will be offered in June 2021.
