Description

Effort: The Earth Observing System (EOS) is a focal point of NASA’s Earth Science Enterprise, designed to further the understanding of global climate change by providing a global observing system and a comprehensive range of measurements. Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) is a major ‘Principal Investigator’ experiment on the EOS Aura Mission launched in July 2004. Caltech’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) has overall responsibility for the EOS MLS instrument and experiment. NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) has overall responsibility for the Aura mission.

This Task Order is awarded under the current NASA/Caltech Cost-Plus-Award-Fee Contract NAS7-03001 pursuant to the authority under 10 USC 2304(c)(3), as implemented by FAR 6.302-3.

Due to the complex, cutting-edge research and development work performed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), a cost-type contract (NAS7-03001) was deemed the most appropriate contractual arrangement.
