Description
Effort: The Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS)on the EOS Aqua Spacecraft is a Facility Instrument. Together with the Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit (AMSU) they form the AIRS Sounding System. The AIRS Sounding System is designed to meet climate research needs and operational weather prediction requirements. The project involves operational weather and climate science software development and algorithm maintenace, instruments operations, trending, and calibration.
This Task Order is awarded under the current NASA/Caltech Cost-Plus-Award-Fee Contract NAS7-03001 pursuant to the authority under 10 USC 2304(c)(3), as implemented by FAR 6.302-3.
Due to the complex, cutting-edge research and development work performed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), a cost-type contract (NAS7-03001) was deemed the most appropriate contractual arrangement.
