Dear Colleague,

COM DEV and the University of Guelph Controlled Environment Systems Research Facility (CESRF), under contract to the CSA, and with the support of the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) are hosting a Canadian Advanced Life Support Systems/ALimentaire Systeme Survie (CanALSS) workshop June 12th -13th at the Delta Hotel in Guelph Ontario. The workshop brings together key stakeholders in Canada’s greenhouse and aerospace industries, as well as biological life support researchers. See http://www.canalss.ca for registration and more details.

The workshop goal is to develop a strategic technology roadmap for a major Canadian infrastructure contribution to the international space exploration effort building on Canada’s international leadership role in the field of biological life support and greenhouse technology. Attendees will self-select into technology focussed break-out groups to develop R&D roadmaps in their particular areas of expertise.

An important aspect of Canada’s Space Exploration Strategy will be to ensure that technology developments support the needs of Canada’s existing ground-based industries, providing socio-economic benefits that are visible to all Canadians.

The results of this workshop will be used as inputs for an ongoing roadmap study sponsored by the Canadian Space Agency.

Details:

The workshop will start at 10:00am on June 12th, and will end after breakout group presentations on the morning of June 13th, followed by a tour of the CESRF.

Hope to see you in June!

Regards,

Al Scott (COM DEV), Geoffrey Waters (CESRF, UoG)
