The out meeting of the Power Engineering Physico-Technical
Problems Department (PEPTPD) Bureau of the Russian Academy
of Sciences (RAS) was held at RSC Energia after S.P. Korolev.
The RSC Energia-hosted meeting reviewed the work progress
made at RSC Energia after S.P. Korolev and RC after M.V.
Keldysh with respect to space equipment power supply and
prospects for space-related power engineering development
in such areas as engines, different types of propulsion
systems running on chemical, solar and nuclear energy; power
supply systems such as different solar power plants; nuclear
power plants, storage batteries; spare vehicle thermal control
systems (one-phase, two-phase, cable, thermoelectric). Also
consideration was given to possible applications of these
high space-related technologies in industry and power supply.
The meeting was chaired by O.N. Favorsky, the academician-secretary
of PEPTPD, the RAS academician. During the meeting its participants
were familiarized with the outcomes of RSC Energia activities
on the first Russian electrochemical generator based upon
hydrogen and oxygen, a unique operating high-temperature
stand, as well as the lithium-niobium technology.
