Photo Report: Cosmonauts Day Celebration in Moscow

In view of the Cosmonautics Day, the executives and representatives
of the team of S.P. Korolev RSC Energia, Administration
and the general public of the city of Korolev, the fellow-workers
of S.P. Korolev and the Corporation’s veterans, the relatives
of Sergei Pavlovich put wreaths on the memorial plaques
and the monuments to the outstanding scientist and designer
on the territory of both the Corporation and the space-oriented
city; at the monuments to the scientists and heroes known
for their contribution to space development situated on
the Cosmonauts’ lane, at the Kremlin wall and at the Novodevichje
cemetery, Moscow.

During the festive communication session with the International
Space Station conducted from Moscow Mission Control Center,
the RSC Energia’s President, General Designer Yu.P. Semenov
congratulated the crew of the 8th Main Expedition (ISS-8),
namely: Russian cosmonaut Alexandr Kalery and American astronaut
Michael Foale, on the Cosmonautics Day, wished them sound
health, successful implementation of the Mission Program
and return to the ground. In addition, he announced that
preparations for the Soyuz TMA-4 space vehicle launch are
nearing completion at Baikonur Cosmodrome. The Soyuz TMA-4
is expected to deliver to the station the 9th Main Expedition
crew, involving Russian cosmonaut Gennady Padalka (Commander
of the space vehicle, ISS-9 Commander) and American astronaut
Michael Fink (ISS-9 Flight Engineer, Flight Engineer-2 of
the space vehicle), as well as ESA’s astronaut Andre Caipers,
who is supposed to accomplish the flight task under the
Russian Program of the 6th Visiting Crew.
