SPACE WEATHER ADVISORY OUTLOOK #02- 48

2002 November 26 at 03:04 p.m. MST (2002 November 26 2204 UTC)

**** SPACE WEATHER OUTLOOK ****

Summary For November 18-24

Space weather reached strong levels during the period. The geomagnetic
field surrounding earth reach a category G3 (strong) storm condition on
November 21st, due to a high velocity compression of the solar wind
passing the Earth, caused by a rotating coronal hole feature on the
sun. Other space weather activity during the period included a
category R2 (moderate) radio blackout at 7:08 p.m. Mountain Standard
Time (MST) on November 17th (2:08 a.m. Universal Time on November
18th), due to an energetic solar flare. A category R1 (minor) radio
blackout also occurred at 11:06 a.m. MST (6:06 p.m. UT) on November
20th.

Outlook For November 27-December 3

Space weather is expected to reach moderate levels. Category G2
(moderate) geomagnetic storm conditions are possible on November
27th-28th, due to the passage of a shock in the solar wind from a weak
solar flare event on November 24th. Category R1 (minor) to R2
(moderate) radio blackouts are possible throughout the period.
