SPACE WEATHER OUTLOOK #01- 12
2001 March 27 at 03:14 p.m. MST (2001 March 27 2214 UT)
**** SPACE WEATHER OUTLOOK ****
Summary For March 19-25
Space weather increased to strong levels. Category G2 (moderate)
geomagnetic storm conditions occurred on March 20, with a brief
interval of G3 (strong) levels. Category G2 to G3 geomagnetic storm
conditions may have adverse effects on power systems, satellite
operations, high-frequency radio communications, and low-frequency
navigation systems. For details, please refer to the NOAA Space Weather
Scales. Category R1 (minor) radio blackouts occurred almost daily.
Category R1 radio blackouts typically result in minor effects on
high-frequency radio communication and low-frequency navigation systems
on the sunlit side of Earth.
Outlook For March 28-April 3
Space weather is expected to be at minor to moderate levels. Category R1
(minor) to R2 (moderate) radio blackouts will be possible during the
period. Category G1(minor) to G2 (moderate) geomagnetic storm
conditions are expected on March 28 due to a CME passage. There will be
a chance for a category S1 (minor) solar radiation storm during the
period.
