NOAA SATOPS Morning Report: Wednesday, August 24, 2011
Customers or users who want to call to ask about problems or report outages can use the following contacts:

DOY 235
Due to the 5.9 earthquake in the Washington Metro area, the NSOF (NOAA
Satellite Operations Facility) was evacuated. A skeleton emergency crew remained at NSOF while experts verified there was no structural damage to the building. Operations continued and there were no data losses to report. Specifics on fail over times are provided in each section below.
GOES
Failover due to the earthquake: DOY 235 18:00z All GOES operations were moved to WCDA immediately. From 20:00 through 22:00z GOES-11, GOES-12, and GOES-15 operations were back to NSOF to address s/c health & safety requirements. DOY 236 at 13:00z – GOES11, GOES12, GOES13 operations moved back to NSOF. GOES-14, and GOES-15 ops will remain at WCDA through 23:30z for training purposes..
All other GOES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.
No anomalies affecting product delivery or s/c health & safety.

POES
Failover due to the earthquake: DOY 235 WCDA took over all POES supports at 1800Z . On DOY 236 11:00z partial operations were moved back to NSOF. All POES ops are scheduled to move back to NSOF at on DOY 236 22:00z.
All other POES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.
No anomalies affecting product delivery or s/c health & safety.

DMSP
Failover due to the earthquake: DOY 235 ESOC took over all supports at 1800Z. DOY 236 14:28z all operations were moved back to NSOF.
All other DMSP operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.
No anomalies affecting product delivery or s/c health & safety.

JASON-2
There was no failover due to the earthquake however, CNES was alerted to the possibility if a complete NSOF evacuation was required.
All other JASON-2 operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

ESPC Reported data outage and delays
No data losses to report. Operations remained at ESPC however, the backup ESPC (CIP) was activated at 04:30z. CIP will remain activated through the weekend.
