DOY 240
NOTES: In preparation for Hurricane Irene, WCDA personnel stowed the following antennas: 13M-A, 13M-B, 26M, 14.2M, 18M-A, and 18M-B. POES & Jason-2 supports at WCDA were ceased on DOY239 at 13:44z. Additional IJPS Svalboard supports were used to cover N19 gaps and FCDA was used as much as possible to cover the secondary POES missions(N15 – N18). GOES-11 was successfully moved to FCDA at 15:12z. GOES-14 was moved to USN’s Hawaii ground station at 01:50z on DOY240. On-call day staff personnel were on-site at WCDA, WBU, and NSOF in order to quickly address any problems during the night.
NSOF has been on generator power since approximately 03:20z. The decision was made to switch from commercial power due to the frequent short duration power hits that had been occurring during the storm.
