Celebrating Our Ocean Planet
Leading up to the start of World Oceans Month in June, we’re celebrating our Blue Planet through images from the field, videos, and interactive talks! Each week, we’ll focus on a different deep-ocean theme!

This Tuesday, join us for a rebroadcast of an exceptional hydrothermal vent discovery in May 2016 during the first leg of our Deepwater Exploration of the Marianas expedition
On this dive [ranging in depth from 3,288 meters to 3,292 meters (2.04 – 2.05 miles)] we imaged, for the first time ever, an incredible active hydrothermal vent that rose 30 meters (98 feet) off the seafloor. At one point, we measured a temperature of 339°C (642°F)!
And for more information, images and educational materials, visit the expedition website
Stay tuned for more exciting rebroadcasted adventures next week!
