DMSP

All DMSP operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

POES

NOAA-16 rev 13207 / F at 1538Z on April 15:  Executed CPs to change SEM TED electron high voltage level to 4, and to change SEM TED proton high voltage level to 4.

NOAA-11 rev 75074 / W at 1642Z on April 15:  Data set STIP2B was received short due to telemetry dropouts during playback with 92.6% recovered.  The NOAA-11 SBUV continues end-of-life testing.

GOES

At 1435Z on April 15, GOES-12 power amps A, B and C were turned off due to operational proximity to GOES-8 as per SCP.

At 1530Z on April 15, the GOES-12 primary oxidizer and fuel tank heaters were cycled off (post eclipse configuration).  At the same time, the GOES-9 fuel tank #1 was cycled off and the AOC thruster 1 (East) heater were cycled on as per SCP.

At 1534Z on April 15, the GOES-8 storage heater #3, and primary oxidizer and fuel heaters were cycled off as per SCP.

At 1537Z on April 15, the GOES-10 primary oxidizer and fuel tank heaters were cycled off (post eclipse configuration).

At 1542Z on April 15, the GOES-9 trim tab was slewed 0.96 degrees as per SCP.

At 1918Z on April 15, the GOES-8 storage heater #7 was cycled on as per SCP.

Five GOES-9 test images continue to be commanded during the 1641Z to 0644Z period.  These test images will continue through Friday, April 16 (Day 108).  These images are not expected to be within INR or radiometric specification. GOES-9 performance continues to be nominal.  Expected limit changes and momentum management actions continue. GOES-9 is currently at approximately 161.84 E drifting at a westward rate of ~0.719 degrees per day toward 155 E longitude where it will support the GMS-5 replacement mission on April 25.

GOES-12 continues to drift at an eastward rate of ~0.33 degrees per day toward 75 degrees W until the stop maneuver is performed on approximately April 22.  Until GOES-12 arrives on-station, the GOES-12 will be retransmitted via GOES-8 (to minimize impacts to the users).

Keep-out-Zones (KOZ) operations for all spacecraft continue through day 116.  Schedules for GOES-East and GOES-West (which can be used to track the day-to-day image deletions due to KOZ) can be found at:

Major upcoming GOES milestones (Note: These dates are subject to change)

  • April 16-19:  GOES-9 GVAR begins, INR startup with a 0.7 deg/day drift
  • April 22:  GOES-12 stops at 75 deg W; ancillary communication services (DCS, WEFAX, EMWIN, SAR) become operational.
  • April 24:  GOES-8 drift start westward from 75 W
  • April 25:  GOES-9 drift stop at 155 E

All GOES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.
