NOAA GOES SATOPS Morning Report 3 Apr 2001

SATOPS MORNING REPORT – April 2, 2001

No significant effects noted on any spacecraft noted from high solar/geomagnetic
activity over the weekend.  Some momentum

buildup was observed on some of the LEO spacecraft and some brief Hy
magnetic field reversals noted on the GOES

spacecraft.  All of these effects have been noted in the past
and have not resulted in adverse conditions on the spacecraft.

POES

No change in the status of the POES spacecraft.

NOAA-11 SBUV anomaly actions will continue today on revs 64571 and 64572. 
On Friday, the total ozone wavelengths

were loaded into flex memory 3.  The SBUV grating drive remained
parked at position 501 over the weekend.

NOAA-16 rev 2684 / W at 1739Z on March 30:  GAC4B failed to lock
on the MSB on both the ìAî and ìBî antenna.  The

WCDAS believes this problem is due to a change in 13 meter software
parameters.  Recorder management prevented replay

from the spacecraft.  100% of GAC4B was lost.

NOAA-14 rev 32211 / F at 0322Z on March 31:  GAC5B noisy from spacecraft
with 98.8% of the expected data received.

A second transfer yielded only 73.9% of the expected data.  Another
recovery attempt from the spacecraft was not be

possible due to recorder scheduling management.

NOAA-14 rev 32217 / F at 1349Z on March 31:  LAC3A received noisy
from the spacecraft with 97% of the expected data

recovered.  CEMSCS declined a replay attempt.

NOAA-14 rev 32239 / F at 0259Z on April 2:  LAC2B noisy from spacecraft
with 97.8% of the expected data recovered.

No retransmittal required.

POES operations were nominal over the past 72 hours.

DMSP

No change in the status of the DMSP spacecraft.

DMSP operations were nominal over the past 72 hours.

GOES

No change in the status of the GOES spacecraft.

All eclipse operations nominal.  No frame breaks noted.

Brief Y-axis mag field polarity reversals on the GOES spacecraft sensed
on March 31 due to solar-induced geomagnetic

activity; no adverse effects noted.
