SATOPS MORNING REPORT – February 27, 2001

POES

No change in the status of the POES spacecraft.

NOAA-14 rev 31759 / F at 0300Z on February 27:  LAC2B was noisy
on the first playback; it was forward-played and reingested cleanly during
this pass.  GAC5A was also noisy with 98.6% of the expected data received.
Recorder management prevented replay from spacecraft.

POES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

DMSP

No change in the status of the DMSP spacecraft.

DMSP operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

GOES

No change in the status of the GOES spacecraft.

Following eclipse this morning (D058, 05:21Z), the GOES-8 XRS came up
in CAL mode when the auto-load group was restored.  Engineers were
alerted of the situation at the beginning of the day shift and the XRS
was restored back to data mode at ~ 12:50Z.  The Space Environment
Center is being notified of the event.  This behavior is similar to
the GOES-10 XRS normal behavior, but this may be the first time that this
has been observed on GOES-8.  Engineering will monitor the sensor
for a few nights and will modify the G-8 eclipse schedule accordingly if
it’s going to be a regular feature.

At 2339Z on February 26, a GOES-8 frame break was observed and attributed
to local BER (unknown).

GOES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.
