NOAA GOES SATOPS Morning Report 25 October 2000
SATOPS MORNING REPORT – October 25, 2000
POES
No change in the status of the POES spacecraft.
NOAA-16 operations nominal.
For the past 24 hours, both the +X and -X Thermal Control Electronics
(TCEs) on the NOAA-15 Instrument Mounting Platform (IMP) have been turned
off to reduce the operating temperature of the AVHRR scan motor.
The NOAA-15 AVHRR scan motor temperature has been reduced, however performance
impacts are still being evaluated. Further options have been identified
which may include scan motor/electronics cycling and solar array movements.
The next steps will be discussed in an engineering meeting later today.
NOAA-12 rev 49067 / F at 1834Z on October 24: L5B placed into
record manually 20 seconds late due to repeated stored command table load
failures. The table load failed four times; the spacecraft faded
without the stored command table running. On rev 49068 / F at 2013Z:
L2A was a total loss due to stored command table being stopped due to load
problems. L5B received short due to late start; 46.25% of the data
was recovered. Data not recoverable on subsequent revs due to recorder
management.
POES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.
DMSP
No change in the status of the DMSP spacecraft.
DMSP operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.
GOES
No change in the status of the GOES spacecraft.
GOES-8 East/West maneuver #32 is on schedule for today at approximately
1658Z. The commanded thruster firing duration is 6.4 seconds.
GOES-10 East/West maneuver #14 is now rescheduled for Friday, October 27,
at 0928Z (5:28 EDT). The commanded thruster firing duration will
be 8.3 seconds.
At 1050Z on Tuesday, October 24, a GOES-10 frame break was observed
and attributed to high BER at CDA (unknown reason).
At 1605Z on Tuesday, October 24, a GOES-10 frame break was observed
and attributed to loss of signal sync.
GOES-9 and GOES-11 remain in the Z-Axis Precession (ZAP) storage mode
at ~105 deg W.
GOES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.
