SATOPS MORNING REPORT – March 20, 2001

NOTE:  At approximately 1230Z on March 20, a GOES ground system
problem disrupted all GOES-8 and GOES-10

imaging operations.  A systematic recycling of GOES ground systems
was conducted and command and telemetry operations

were returned by approximately 1400Z.  Product Monitor operations
and a resumption of the GOES-East and GOES-West

schedules was complete by approximately 1415Z.  Analysis of the
problem continues.

POES

No change in the status of the POES spacecraft.

NOAA-12 rev 51147 / W at 2219Z on March 19:   Good CTALD of
recursive SCT.  NOAA-12 (full APT/HRPT) will only

be supported once per day.

NOAA-14 rev 32056 / F at 0355Z on March 20:   GAC5A received
noisy from spacecraft.  99.3% of the expected data

recovered.  No retransmittal required.

POES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

DMSP

No change in the status of the DMSP spacecraft.

DMSP operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

GOES

No change in the status of the GOES spacecraft.

All equinox eclipse operations nominal.

At 1401Z on March 19, a GOES-8 frame break was observed and attributed
to a reset of the IPS memory.

At 0937Z on March 20, a GOES-8 frame break was observed and attributed
to address phasing error.

To review the eclipse schedules for the GOES-8 and GOES-10 spacecraft,
refer to:

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/SSD/GOES/eclipse.html to identify images canceled
to satisfy eclipse or instrument keep-out-zone

(KOZ) requirements.

At approximately 1230Z on March 20, a ground system problem (suspected
at Wallops CDA) disrupted all GOES-8 and

GOES-10 imaging operations.  A systematic recycling of GOES ground
systems was conducted and command and telemetry

operations were returned by approximately 1400Z.  Product Monitor
operations and a resumption of the GOES-East and

GOES-West schedules was complete by approximately 1415Z.  Analysis
of the problem continues.

Other than the aforementioned ground system problem, GOES operations
were nominal over the past 24 hours.
