SATOPS MORNING REPORT August 23, 2000

POES

No change in the status of the POES spacecraft.

POES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

DMSP

No change in the status of the DMSP spacecraft.

On Wednesday, August 23, an OPS47 Category 1 Data Loss was declared
on rev 27940 at 0343z.  The data loss occurred due to the playback
recorder being turned off 32.275 sec (1291 spacecraft seconds) early.

OPS-46 deactivation activities continue.  A 15 degree spacecraft
tilt test was successfully performed on August 22.  The solar array
lead angle will be adjusted on August 23-24 to evaluate effects on the
Battery 2 Current Sensor (BCS).

DMSP operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

GOES

No change in the status of the GOES spacecraft.

At 1049z, 1131z, 1212z, 1403z, 1453z, and 1511z on Tuesday, August 22,
GOES-10 frame breaks were observed and attributed to RFI (unknown cause).

At 1945z on Tuesday, August 22, a GOES-10 frame break was observed and
attributed to loss of signal synchronization.

At 0730z on Wednesday, August 23, a GOES-8 frame break was observed
and attributed to loss of signal synchronization.

Normal pre-eclipse battery reconditioning activities continue on GOES-8,
-9 and -10.

GOES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.
