Tropical Storm 02W (Kujira) was located over the Western Pacific Ocean near 23.0N 123.1E at
06:00 UTC. Kujira has been moving north-northeastward at 9 knots with maximum sustained winds
estimated at 35 knots, gusts at 55 knots.

SEVERE STORMS OVER US SOUTHERN PLAINS

Severe storms are visible in this GOES-12 image over the Southern Plains. Forty-eight homes were
damaged and 12 people were injured from a tornado near Venus, TX Wednesday night. Dust
(indicated by the yellow arrows) is also visible sweeping across western Texas.

POWERFUL STORM OVER INDIA

This NOAA-17 Channel 4 image shows a severe thunderstorm over northeast India that hit the region
on Tuesday night. Officials reported that 36 people were killed, about 2,500 injured, and more than
3,000 displaced from their homes due to the powerful storm.
