Significant events identified by Satellite Analysis Branch meteorologists and reviewed by the

Operational Significant Event Imagery support team Friday, August 1, 2003 are as follows:










FIRE IN IDAHO

Heat signatures and smoke plumes (light blue haze) are visible from fires burning in Idaho. The

Hot Creek Fire has scorched 23,761 acres in Boise National Forest. The North Fork Lick Fire

(250 acres) and the Rainbow Fire (107 acres) have burned parts of Payette National Forest. The

Slims Fire (7,200 acres) and the Shasta Fire (183 acres) have charred sections of Nez Perce

National Forest. This information is from the National Interagency Fire Center’s Incident

and Alberta, Canada. The Wedge Canyon (22,000 acres) and the Robert Fire (19,000 acres) are

burning in Flathead National Forest. The Trapper Complex Fire has scorched 19,000 acres in
